Sunday Night Traditional Irish Seisiún

Sunday May 26th

Every Sunday

Every Sunday night is our Traditional Irish Seisiún.  It is one of the longest running seisiúns in NYC and is hosted by Tony DeMarco (fiddle).  Other guest musicians join in as the night goes on. In the past the seisiún has been the subject of an article in the NY Times and Tony appeared on “Live From Here” with Chris Thile on NPR. Without a doubt one of the best things you can do on a Sunday Night in NYC!

David Gans & Band

Tuesday June 11th

David Gans has been the host of The Grateful Dead Hour radio show since 1985.  He will be doing two sets, one with a band and one solo with loops. David delivers literate, improvisational folk-rock with looping in a “solo electric” setting. A solo Gans show is likely to consist of several elements: country-blues-style fingerpicking; loop-based improvisations created live in the moment; sweetly-sung ballads, original or borrowed; Grateful Dead songs reinterpreted to suit his voice and guitar; wry observations of the music-festival subculture and the larger world; soulful and passionate political commentary; favorites from the folk-rock canon of the last 50 years. Mix and match – it’s never the same show twice, but it’s always worth a listen.

Tuesday June 18th

The man Jerry Lee Lewis once likened to “that Cash kid, but good” has enjoyed a long and varied career. Jack Grace is that man: a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who’s been touring and recording for over 25 years. His duet with Norah Jones, “Bad Wind Blowing” was a standout tune on his last recording, Everything I Say Is A Lie, produced by Joan Jett and Steve Earle’s former guitarist Eric Ambel. He’s performed with a diverse collection of artists, like the aforementioned Lewis as well as Doc Watson, Fishbone, Junior Brown, The Meters and has even shared the bill with Merle Haggard. With a revolving cast of characters, he leads anything from simple guitar, bass, and drum trios to seven-piece ensembles complete with piano, steel, trombone, and trumpet. He will be performing on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 11th St. Bar going forward.   JackGrace.com

The Combine

Tuesday July 2nd

The Combine is an eclectic five-piece instrumental combo that performs pop tunes from the 60s and beyond along with some standards, arranged for pedal steel guitar, trombone, upright bass, electric guitar and drums.

Whether it’s Ferry Cross the Mersey, Take the A Train, Everybody Wants to Rule the World or Paul Simon’s America, you can be sure you've never heard renderings like these, often with extended jams that highlight the band’s stellar musicianship.

The Combine is the brainchild of pedal steel player Jonathan Gregg, a figure on the NYC scene for decades who has worked with Cliff Westfall, Hamilton Leithauser, the Doc Marshalls, Emily Duff and many others, and who is currently a member of ambient country luminaries SUSS. He is joined by an equally accomplished cast including Emmy winner J. Walter Hawkes on trombone and uke, David Hofstra on bass, Richard Feridun on guitar, and David Christian on drums.   Don’t miss The Combine, there's nothing else like it.

The Ramblin' Kind / Pete Mancini & The Hillside Airmen event photo

The Ramblin' Kind / Pete Mancini & The Hillside Airmen

Wednesday July 3rd

The Ramblin' Kind are a New York City country band who have played gin joints all over town for more than a decade. They blend old-school outlaw country attitude and honky-tonk twang with a modern lyrical sensibility where drinking songs and mordant musings come together. One fan's description, "Buck Owens meets the apocalypse," remains an apt assessment. Containing members of veteran alt-country bands The Mekons and Five Chinese Brothers, The Ramblin' Kind have deep roots and gritty gravitas to spare. You can hear some of their music at: www.theramblinkind.bandcamp.com

Pete Mancini got his start as the frontman and songwriter of Butchers Blind, a critically acclaimed rock band from NYC. In 2017 he released his debut solo album Foothill Freeway, which explored the Americana influences that were a hallmark of his former band. The album garnered rave reviews from NPR, No Depression and Newsday. His second album Flying First Class was released in 2019. Extensive tours of the East Coast, Midwest and South followed, establishing Mancini as a national artist.  https://petemancini.com

Puma Perl & Friends / SoulCake event photo

Puma Perl & Friends / SoulCake

Tuesday July 9th

Puma Perl and Friends has been merging Puma’s poetry with rock and roll and music of all genres for over 10 years. Joff Wilson (guitar), Joe Sztabnik (bass), and Dave Donen (percussion) play both original compositions and covers behind her spoken word. Each show includes a couple of songs by Joe and Joff, and the band is often joined by other friends playing everything from sax to harp to trombone to violin. Puma and the other band members have been stalwarts of the NYC downtown scene and have performed individually and with other projects throughout the United States and Europe.

SoulCake singer/songwriter/guitarist Joff Wilson leads the band; Laura Sativa brings flute and percussion to the arrangements and Sarafe is a distinctive presence on bass.  SoulCake has earned a reputation for shows that are fun and full of surprises, from unannounced guests and spontaneous repertoire to new interpretations of audience favorites.

An 11th St. Bar mainstay for years she is not to be missed on her home turf! http://www.juliahaltigan.com

Supremo Massiv is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer born and currently living in Brooklyn, NY. His soulful psychedelic-folk sound is a product of an array of influences by artists all across the musical spectrum. Jack Smead's Birthday

Tuesday September 10th

Annually on September 10th

No real event here, we just usually get together on what was Jack's Birthday and celebrate the greatest guy to ever walk through the doors to this bar.  He was the King of Happy Hour and we named our Happy Hour after him.

Chris Murphy

Tuesday September 10th

Both  a wily, charismatic performer and a fire-breathing virtuoso of the violin, Chris Murphy crams more musical mileage into a short set than most players do in an entire tour. Whether it’s through noirish atmospheres, joyfully bent  traditional folk tunes, or belly-up to-the-bar Blues, Murphy does the devil’s handiwork on four strings with a winning presence and a gypsy’s knack for crossing all musical terrains.
