Jamie Thomas Band

Tuesday July 1st

Jamie Thomas had his musical epiphany not at the proverbial crossroads but a schoolyard in Astoria, Queens, where the music of Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones and others touched his soul and inspired him to write songs. He honed his skills as a performer playing New York clubs with his band 3rd Man Out before striking out on his own. Jamie continues to perform his own steeped-in-the-tradition originals with his reinterpretations of other numbers from the great real American music songbook that span from its origins to today.

Jason Ewald Band

Wednesday July 2nd

Multi-instrumentalist Jason Ewald writes songs to process life. His songs are about love, friendship and the confusion that comes along for the ride with those things. Sometimes he sings in the morning and it turns into a song about the nightlife. Sometimes he sings about the city and it ends up sounding like the circus. “Music is a way for me to express what can’t be expressed in any other way.” He stated in an interview at his Brooklyn apartment. Jason continues to be inspired by life and always has a tune in his head.

Esmoquin / TBD

Wednesday July 16th

Esmoquinn is a musical collaborative in Brooklyn: created, led and established by singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeb Colwell.  Currently a three-piece, their live shows enthrall, amuse and entertain their audience with a plethora of playing styles.  Minimalistic pop songs take the reins from jazz-infused latin tunes presented with a tinge of 90s post-wave attitude - often balancing a fine line between sincerity and comedic sensibilities, sung in English and Spanish.  Esmoquinn has been brought into being by the protagonist’s urge to re-connect with his half-Mexican roots. It is also a reflection, a musical retrospective and an attempt to reinvent Colwell’s artistry and stagecraft in 2025.  The trio features Tommi Lebioda (Frogbelly And Symphony, Dirty Cosmos, Amalgaband, Astrid’s Farm et al.) on bass guitar and backing vocals and Patrick Carmichael (Flea Circus, Van Davis, The Brothers Yee, The Big Apple Circus Band et al.) on the drums.  Emoquin Instagram

Good Luck Mountain

Tuesday July 22nd

Mike Ferrio's previous band, the much-feted Tandy, came to an end with the untimely death of his musical partner Drew Glackin. Good Luck Mountain is Mike Ferrio's response to the shock and grief of that event, and also a fresh start in a new direction. Good Luck Mountain is the name he's adopted for his new band as well as the name of the record; "seasoned players", he calls his new band mates, who include Konrad Meissner from The Silos (with whom Drew Glackin also played) and Matt Mays, once of The Guthries, but there's a host of other players on this album which features music that is carefully built - layers of sound that spring from some synthesiser atmospherics in the background and with changes of emphasis that are characterised by use of strings or horns.

Wandering Years / TBD

Wednesday July 23rd

Wandering Years originated as the recording project of Brooklyn songwriter Gene Stroman. After making a string of home-recorded EPs, including the intimate, emo-tinged folk release "Wandering Years Retirement Community" (2022), Stroman recruited friends to bring the Wandering Years sound to life. In 2023, the group released its debut LP "Mountain Laughed" on Boston slowcore label Candlepin Records. Channeling the melodic and melancholic sounds of early shoegaze-adjacent groups like Red House Painters, Low, and Songs: Ohia, the album is a tender meditation on the seemingly relentless river of time experienced in the city. More recently, Wandering Years released “You Are Covered in Brooklyn Amber” EP on Better Days Will Haunt You and Candlepin Records.

The Oystermen / Doak Hensley

Thursday July 24th

The Oystermen are an Americana band that knows how to bring the party! Since releasing their debut album as a trumpet-and-guitar duo in June 2024, they've expanded their lineup to include a rhythm section and now perform around NYC as a full four-piece band. Described by The Ugly Hug music journal as "Brooklyn's newest bluegrass super-force", their shows are split between originals and covers of the old-timey songs they love.  Oystermen Instagram

Doak Hensley is an American songwriter from Happy Place, TX. His songs are textured with the dust and grit of the great American landscape, woven from tales of salt of the earth folks. Inspired by hippies, rednecks, outlaws, and old cowboys who never thought much of labels, Doak’s music will put a boogie in the britches of anyone with boots to scoot and an ear to bend. He’ll be glad to see you when he does, and you’ll be glad you did when you’re gone.  Doak Hensley Instagram

Wednesday July 30th

Fulgurite is what happens when lightning strikes mud. It’s also what listening to The Wonder Licks feels like: Somewhere on the banks of the Big Muddy, in a white-hot flash of sound and fury, Americana music grew legs, stood up, and called itself a band.  Founder Jacob Wunderlich enlisted in classical piano lessons as a wee lad. By his early teens, Wunderlich was writing duets for his friends and modifying the lyrics of radio hits to make his sisters pee their pants. A move to Nashville, TN at 18 years old would inspire delusions of grandeur.  Today, The Wonder Licks is an embodiment of Wunderlich’s music-or-bust move to New York City. Deemed “ambitious work” and an “impeccable sound” by various nincompoops, the band’s live act features Brian Carey (bass), Maria Ferrugia (tambourine), Sam Weinberger (keys), in addition to Reina (drums) and Wunderlich (vocals/piano/guitar). The Whiskey Biscuits

Thursday August 7th

The Whiskey Biscuits are a five-piece country-rock band based in Brooklyn, NY.  Formed over a mutual love of American roots music, including classic country and rock & roll, Whiskey Biscuits sets serve as a tribute to undersung songwriters (Flying Burrito Bros, John Prine, Warren Zevon), radio favorites (The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty), and a catalog of original music influenced by all of the above. The band has garnered a reputation for rowdy live performances and has become a sought-after act among the Brooklyn country scene, working weekly as the house band at the famed 250+ capacity venue, Desert 5 Spot, as well as making regular appearances at respected country scene institution Skinny Dennis. Having cut their teeth here, the band feels a special relationship to 11th St Bar and sees these shows as an opportunity to share in the collective culture of song that has long been part of the bar’s identity. The Whiskey Biscuits sets at 11th St are characterised by an emphasis on original material and more obscure covers aimed at the heads, often culminating in a dancing-on-tables celebration of rock and roll songwriting.

Leah Tash Band / Rat City Sunrise

Thursday August 14th

“Tash’s sound evokes the timeless allure of bygone eras while retaining a vibrant resonance with the contemporary musical landscape. She threads together elements of folk, blues, rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, and country into a unique tapestry that stands as a testament to her versatile artistry.” ~ B-Side Guys Leah Tash has been writing and performing songs throughout New York City since she was 17 years old. Growing up one neighborhood over from Greenwich Village, her teenage years brought her the gift of discovering artists like Bob Dylan, Bessie Smith and Johnny Cash. These early influences now dance through the stories Leah tells in song, as she embraces a sentimental heart and adventurous spirit. Today you can catch Leah live on the road and in her hometown city, either solo or with her swinging Americana band. Facebook.com/leahtashmusic

RAT CITY SUNRISE is a collaboration between songwriters Evangeline Grace Young and Joey Siara (NEAR BEER and HENRY CLAY PEOPLE). They met in New Jersey in 2019 working on a TV series together and became buddies on set, bonding over bands and what not. Evangeline loves Big Thief and Leonard Cohen and The Band. Joey loves The Replacements and Tom Petty and Pavement. Evangeline has a more folkier sensibility and has opened for Glen Hansard. Joey has a more bratty indie rock thing and has opened for The Hold Steady. When they both found themselves living in NYC they decided to start a band called RAT CITY SUNRISE, which blends their sensibilities into something gritty but sweet. Big slackery guitars. Earnest sad sack lyrics. Hooky melodies and harms. Sibling-esque banter. They are currently recording their first record.

Good Luck Mountain event photo

Good Luck Mountain

Tuesday September 2nd

Tuesday September 16th

The man Jerry Lee Lewis once likened to “that Cash kid, but good” has enjoyed a long and varied career. Jack Grace is that man: a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who’s been touring and recording for over 25 years. His duet with Norah Jones, “Bad Wind Blowing” was a standout tune on his last recording, Everything I Say Is A Lie, produced by Joan Jett and Steve Earle’s former guitarist Eric Ambel. He’s performed with a diverse collection of artists, like the aforementioned Lewis as well as Doc Watson, Fishbone, Junior Brown, The Meters and has even shared the bill with Merle Haggard. With a revolving cast of characters, he leads anything from simple guitar, bass, and drum trios to seven-piece ensembles complete with piano, steel, trombone, and trumpet. He will be performing on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 11th St. Bar going forward.   JackGrace.com

The Whiskey Biscuits

Thursday October 2nd

Luba Dvorak event photo

Luba Dvorak

Tuesday October 14th

One should take heed to conflate Luba Dvorak, the man, with the Luba Dvorak behind six strings and a microphone. The former is a family man carrying a music tradition passed along through his bloodline. He is a taciturn figure of observation and honest reflection; but make no mistake, there is a reckoning that churns beneath that calm surface. You may think that you know him, but there is a part of him that you’ve most certainly misunderstood. Perched above and just behind a microphone set center-stage, Luba Dvorak smelts his private demeanor and shapes it into a pair of dark sunglasses which he stashes beneath his brow hidden behind the brim of a hat. The quiet mystery of the man becomes a brash amalgam of roots influences that delivers tales of passionate struggle, celebration, and perhaps even a bit of warning. He will growl and croon. He will shred and pick. He will shimmy and kick. He will rock and he will tonk. He drinks a white wine spritzer with a red wine chaser. You may think you know him, but you’ve probably only begun to misunderstand him. He is an artist with much to say in a tradition that is commonly regarded as in memoriam, yet Luba returns to that place to decorate the headstone with respect and to vow to keep the art of the folk singer alive and thriving, finding poignant ways to remind us all that his role is a conception of reverence to a craft that deserves preservation for our own moments of despair and revelry. From being born in Czechoslovakia, raised in Vancouver, Canada, and honed by New York City, Luba moved in 2017 to found his next settlement for “Brooklyn Twang” in Houston, Texas, where he leaned into the musical influence of a tradition all its own. His latest album, “Dumpster Fire,” pays tribute to the sonic stylings of a City and State with their own particular flare of deliberate intent. It is as adept at slowly bleeding time from under the tourniquet of the hill country as it is presenting a bit of chin music with the force of freeway traffic. As you come to know this collection of songs, you may find that you’ve misunderstood yourself, and that’s just what Luba, the man, would like. Luba Dvorak Website
