Chris Campion presents

Chris Campion presents "Gen-X-istentialism"

Tuesday March 3rd

Chris Campion is not a man of the digital age - thank God. While the rest of us peck away at glass screens, oversharing our innards to the void, Chris spins tales the old-fashioned way: out loud, with a guitar in hands and a song on his lips. Acclaimed for his rollicking off-Broadway show "Escape From Bellevue" and the wild memoir that followed, he now returns with a brand-new evening of music, monologues, and meandering Gen X musings. The show is part storytelling, part stand-up, part singalong, and wholly unpredictable - the kind of night that makes you forget you even own a phone. Join us for a sneak preview of Chris’s new performance in our intimate back room before it moves on to the big stage. For more info on Chris, download his albums here: https://christopherjohncampion.bandcamp.com.

The Whiskey Biscuits

Thursday March 5th

The Whiskey Biscuits are a five-piece country-rock band based in Brooklyn, NY.  Formed over a mutual love of American roots music, including classic country and rock & roll, Whiskey Biscuits sets serve as a tribute to undersung songwriters (Flying Burrito Bros, John Prine, Warren Zevon), radio favorites (The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty), and a catalog of original music influenced by all of the above. The band has garnered a reputation for rowdy live performances and has become a sought-after act among the Brooklyn country scene, working weekly as the house band at the famed 250+ capacity venue, Desert 5 Spot, as well as making regular appearances at respected country scene institution Skinny Dennis. Having cut their teeth here, the band feels a special relationship to 11th St Bar and sees these shows as an opportunity to share in the collective culture of song that has long been part of the bar’s identity. The Whiskey Biscuits sets at 11th St are characterised by an emphasis on original material and more obscure covers aimed at the heads, often culminating in a dancing-on-tables celebration of rock and roll songwriting.

LIZ HANLEY is a Brooklyn based fiddle player, violinist, singer and performer across many genres. Vents Magazine states “Liz Hanley is a singer with the sort of crystal-clear, instantly ingratiating voice that has always been a hallmark of progressive folk-rock” and Irish Music Magazine write “Liz Hanley has that uncanny knack and the distinctive voice to reawaken our interest in the familiar…” Hanley has toured globally with the late great Dr. Mick Moloney and The Green Fields of America, the pop-infused prog-folk-rock band Frogbelly And Symphony and symphonic rock band Emanuel and the Fear. Hanley’s debut album of songs and tunes in the Irish tradition "The Ecstasy of St Cecilia" was hailed a “gentle work of beauty” by FolkWorld.  JEFFERSON HAMER is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. He has toured and recorded albums with Anais Mitchell (Child Ballads, winner of a BBC2 Folk Award), Sarah Jarosz (as guitarist and harmony singer on her Grammy-nominated Blue Heron Suite), and Session Americana. The man Jerry Lee Lewis once likened to “that Cash kid, but good” has enjoyed a long and varied career. Jack Grace is that man: a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who’s been touring and recording for over 25 years. His duet with Norah Jones, “Bad Wind Blowing” was a standout tune on his last recording, Everything I Say Is A Lie, produced by Joan Jett and Steve Earle’s former guitarist Eric Ambel. He’s performed with a diverse collection of artists, like the aforementioned Lewis as well as Doc Watson, Fishbone, Junior Brown, The Meters and has even shared the bill with Merle Haggard. With a revolving cast of characters, he leads anything from simple guitar, bass, and drum trios to seven-piece ensembles complete with piano, steel, trombone, and trumpet.   JackGrace.com

Lucky 7 / Faith NYC

Tuesday May 19th

9:30pm - Lucky 7 is back with a vengeance. Formed by Barry Ryan (Rockats) and Kenny Margolis (Mink DeVille,Cracker), Lucky 7 recorded three albums and toured The USA, Canada, Europe and Scandinavia from the mid 80’s to the mid 90’s. Writers from Rolling Stone and The New York Times have called their music zydebilly and a Cajun rhythm & blues rock’n’roll gumbo. Back with Ryan and Margolis are percussionist Boris Kinberg. Joining Lucky 7 is drummer Dave Donen, who has played with many great artists including Chuck Berry, Tim Hardin, Lenny Kaye and Marc Ribot and has played on 65+ recordings. 8:00 - The emergence of Felice Rosser’s FaithNYC reveals another facet of the seemingly infinite diamond of Black American music. Born in Detroit, she experienced Motown, the 1967 riots, Funkadelic, The MC5, The Stooges and The New York Dolls before moving to New York City for college. Blown away by Television at CBGB’s, she became part of the scene, befriending Samo— Jean Michel Basquiat’s tag at that time—and starting to write songs and play bass. Inspired by punk’s DIY attitude, Rock & Roll, Funk, Free Jazz, Dub, Reggae and the new Hip Hop scene all became part of her musical language. She was the bass player in Brooklyn’s all-female reggae band Sistren before she formed FaithNYC, which became part of Vernon Reid’s Black Rock Coalition. Guitarist Al Maddy was a member of Sire recording artists The Nitecaps and has played with artists as varied as Donovan and the Moroccan Jajouka master Bachir Attar. His funky psychedelic style helps create groove and space in FaithNYC's music.  See less

Since releasing their debut album as a trumpet-and-guitar duo in June 2024, they've expanded their lineup to include a rhythm section and now perform around NYC as a full four-piece band. Described by The Ugly Hug music journal as "Brooklyn's newest bluegrass super-force", their shows are split between originals and covers of the old-timey songs they love.11th St. Bar11th St. Bar11thStBar@gmail.com

The Whiskey Biscuits event photo

The Whiskey Biscuits

Thursday June 4th
